 Taste Exploration

Wine and Chocolate

Experience how chocolate and wine flavours complement each other.

Presented by Terri Seager, Leven Valley Vineyard owner and Jessica Tivendale, founder of Chokolate Journeys, enjoy a tasting of Leven Valley Vineyards cold climate wines along side bean to bar chocolate.

Bean to bar chocolate is an artisanal specialist product with a flavour profile similar to specialty wine or cheese. Bean to bar chocolate is crafted by a chocolate maker with a working relationship with the farmers who grown cacao. Cacao is a fruit whose seeds/beans are fermented and dried at the farm. These are then shipped to chocolate makers who process them, temper, and finally craft into chocolate products.  Each step of the process – from farm to maker to you – is visible, traceable and transparent. The aim is to ensure farmers are appropriately paid, the environment is sustainably maintained and you can enjoy the true flavours of chocolate.

This 45 minute taste exploration includes tasting of 4 of Leven Valley Vineyard vintages alongside 4 carefully selected bean to bar chocolate flavours at $50 pp. Any wine purchased on the day will be discounted by 10%.

Children can participate in a tasting exploration of non-alcoholic Ciders and Chocolate that include a tasting of 2 apple ciders and a ginger beer with matched chocolate at $35 pp

Sample wine and BBQ your own winter feast

There's something invigorating about braving the elements and conquering the cold. Bundle up in your favorite winter gear and let the cool breeze enhance your BBQ experience.

Bring your own winter barbeque to take up the unique opportunity to experiment with bold and robust flavors. Infuse your dishes with aromatic spices, tangy marinades, and hearty sauces that complement the season and our wines.

As you take a sip of our Pinot Noir and savor the complex layers of flavors, the aromas of the BBQ wafting through the air create a sensory symphony. The combination of the wine's fruity, spicy, and earthy notes with the smoky essence of the grill adds an extra dimension to your culinary journey.

The bold, smoky flavors of BBQ are beautifully complemented by the rich notes of our Chardonnay. The wine's smooth texture and balanced acidity act as a perfect counterpoint to the savory delights of grilled meats, seafood, and vegetables. It's a pairing that elevates both elements, creating a symphony of taste.

Suggested BBQ dishes that pair well with Pinot Noir

  1. Grilled Salmon: The delicate and flavorful nature of salmon is beautifully complemented by the fruity and earthy notes of Pinot Noir.

  2. Grilled Portobello Mushrooms: For the vegetarians or mushroom enthusiasts, grilled Portobello mushrooms offer a meaty and savory option that pairs wonderfully with Pinot Noir.

  3. Barbecued Chicken: Whether it's juicy chicken thighs or tender drumsticks, barbecued chicken with its smoky and slightly sweet flavors is a versatile companion for Pinot Noir.

Suggested BBQ dishes that pair well with Chardonnay

  1. Grilled Shrimp Skewers: The delicate and succulent flavors of grilled shrimp are beautifully enhanced by the crisp and refreshing characteristics of Chardonnay.

  2. Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad: A classic grilled chicken Caesar salad becomes even more enjoyable when paired with Chardonnay.

  3. Barbecued Corn on the Cob: The charred sweetness of barbecued corn on the cob pairs wonderfully with a chilled glass of Chardonnay.

  4. Grilled Vegetable Medley: A medley of grilled vegetables, such as zucchini, bell peppers, and eggplant, showcases the versatility of Chardonnay.

The beauty of bringing your own BBQ to pair with our Pinot Noir or Chardonnay pairings lies in the exploration and personal preferences. Feel free to experiment and discover your favourite combinations.
